I'm in this same boat. I try to fight my feelings of vengeance though.
I tell myself that to be a civilized society, we need to be better than him. If he murders, and we as a society murder him, we took a life just like he did. It's not the strongest argument, but I tell myself that because I don't want to be a capital punishment proponent, although sometimes I want to be.
