I, like many, really felt the team needed a good 4 on the blueline, not a 1, not a 2, not even a 3, but a 4. A way to bump Wideman out of severe defensive assignments and improve the top four while substantially improving the bottom pairing.

It was a video game trade, the kind I make to put my virtual Calgary Flames over the top when I'm playing pretend GM. Unless I'm trying to play it 'realistic', then I probably pick up someone less awesome, you know, to maintain integrity with the realism mandate. Even if I was going all out and striping teams of their best young players, I don't think a 1st and 2 2nds would get done. My rep would definitely go down for throwing out such a lopsided offer.
I guess what I'm saying is I liked the trade too. A little too much maybe.
