My wife (and another female friend) are saying that the fact that there's even settlement talks means - to them - that this was a money grab from Day #1.

They both said that no matter how much money is dangled in front of them, if they were raped they would do everything in their power to see the a**hole behind bars (along with a few other, choice, punishments.)

They talked about vulnerabilities, always having to look over your shoulder, trust issues in future relationships, etc.

Obviously I've never been in that situation before but they were pretty passionate about their stance that money would NOT be a consideration.

That's a terrible view. There are sooooo many reasons why a victim might want to settle even if she's telling the truth. They have no insight into the girls situation. Ignorant.
