I received the CD yesterday and have listened to it a few times. It's a juggernaut of an album coming in at 92 minutes, but it is well-paced. At this stage of their career, Maiden could have played it safe, but the sheer scope and the scale of effort that went into this record shows that Maiden weren't going to rest on their laurels.
The closer,
Empire of the Clouds - coming in at 18 minutes! - is interesting, but I prefer the short songs like
The Speed of Light and
Death or Glory.
Also of note is
Tears of a Clown - a tribute to Robin Williams.
