Actually it does several key things differently. If you've ever used a stylus on an iPad, there's a problem with pressure. You can't press harder or softer to change the line thickness. Apps like paper have tried to hack around this by using speed, but it's unnatural.
If the claims are true that the lag is noticeably less, this is obviously pretty big.
You also can't use the side of a stylus to shade. For anybody drawing with it, this would be a big bonus.
The cost isn't actually all that crazy. I bought the Pencil from 53 (betting they'll have to change that name) for about $70. Easily the best stylus I've ever used, but this blows it out of the water. It can do the shading, but not the other two things.

I have had Siri turn on when listening to podcasts where someone says something that sounds like Hey Siri and sometimes, something that sounds nothing like it but it's interpreted as Hey Siri.

Google has had their phones listening for "OK Google" for a while now and as far as I know it isn't much of an issue. I'd argue the benefits of getting a measurement conversion when my hands are covered in raw pork would outweigh the annoyance of having go off every now and then when it shouldn't. Super excited for this feature.
