Man... I used to live a couple blocks away from there and there are so many non-burger places even that make a better burger than Clive. Briggs, Vintage, and Notable are three obvious examples. Charcut, too. It's not even in the same league as Naina's.
My "bar that must be cleared" for a burger place is, if I got some market trim, fired up the grill and made a burger myself, could I do a better job than this place without much effort? Clive doesn't clear that bar.
If anyone knows where Jason Chen formerly of Lava Dining ended up going, let me know, because their burger was the best one in Calgary, hands down, in terms of a traditional "bun+beef+cheese+groceries" offering. It was perfect.
