I will tip 15% if the service is outstanding. I deduct 5% for each 'problem' until it is zero, so three strikes and you're out. Don't really care about the social conformity aspect of this at all. No one ever gave me tips working in retail when I was younger even though it was heavy on customer service... in fact you weren't even allowed to keep them if you were tipped. It's utter BS that we tip just because we always have IMO. Pay your own damned staff restaurant owners, I don't see how it's my job. Luckily min wage will probably eventually solve this because I'm not tipping at all if prices keep going up.
And no they aren't going to spit in my food or do anything else. I don't eat out that often for them to remember me and I doubt they're smart enough to remember me anyway even if I did.
