Three incidents. One, my wife went into our neighbourhood convenience store alone. The cashier berated her, and insulted her at the register. Two other times, taxi drivers have asked her if she was married, why she was out alone, and one of them even called her a whore.
Don't worry. Even though women are treated like chattel in many cultures, subject to rape, abuse, and murder, my wife and I both agreed that it wasn't a hate crime. These guys were just creepy losers. The best we could do was inform the police on one of the occasions that my wife had been harassed, and in all three cases, stop using that particular business.
