Half the fares out there are women, I can't honestly see cabbies berating people who aren't part of their culture for not following their cultural norms. You would be shocked then to see some of the attitudes of older men. It's not just because of them being outside of their culture, they truly believe men are superior to women and women should not be out of the house without a male escort.
