Yeah, by "we" I meant hockey in general not the Flames.
Anyways, my only argument is that comparing pure
stats across eras is pointless to do. You wouldn't just say "Gretzky had 200 points so he's better than Crosby"... I'd want to hear a more useful argument.

I would say the best metric for degree of higher scoring, is league average GPG and SA/G
1987-88 - 3.71 GPG
2014-15 - 2.73 GPG
Could spend days analyzing all the different factors though and still get nowhere though - whatever Gio ends up with will be a hell of an accomplishment relative to his own era.
