It could be argued Buffalo is still rebuilding and Florida is operating under an internal cap. But I'll give you those two, and maybe Colorado and the Islanders. So I'd say there were maybe three or four teams who would have been in on Gio as a UFA. And those are all franchises that are pretty tight with their money these days. Maybe someone like the Islanders would have gone all in. But I don't they would have offered 7 years at $8 mil or anything crazy like that.
I'm glad Gio is staying. But I don't think he had anywhere near the options some fans think. Teams these days don't go throwing around six year deals at $7 mil+ to 32-year-old UFAs.

Were you looking at cap space for this coming season, or the next season when Gio would be UFA? Quickly looking at 2016-17 for a bunch of teams that you mentioned, looks like they could have space.
