Maybe a poor choice of words. He is being generous if he left money on the table, but not really a sacrifice.
I was hoping/expecting a 5 year contract at $7million per. This is right in there and I am sure Gio's camp negotiated hard for term. What I like about the contract is that it does not require the salary cap to go up for it to make sense. It is a fair AAV today.
If Gio plays like last year AND stays healthy, he will be a steal.
