I think that he will still be marketable. He doesn't play a style that is hard on his body and, other than his arm, has had a pretty good injury free career to date.

I recognize that cap will go up but I don't think it's going to go up to the point it makes a 4 or 5 defenseman worth 7 million.
I disagree that he doesn't play a hard on his body style. He's very physical. He's also missed a large chunk of the last couple years due to injury. He's also only started playing top pairing minutes in those years.
Again, I'm not disagreeing that this is probably the best we could have hoped for, but I think they handcuffed themselves a bit.
