Have done it a couple times. My wife wanted to go hiking and I decided to look into it.
I now usually try and upload some near where we are travelling so we can go for a tour if we need to get away from family.
The best part about it is that only locals can hide one (as they need to be able to maintain it), and most times they are hidden in neat/cool areas that only locals know. So you end up finding neat views/spaces/caves/ruins/etc that you wouldn't know otherwise. I did this in Barbados and it was great. Spent a day traversing the island finding neat beaches, old churches, and historic buildings long forgotten.
