Nothing useful to add other than a story.
I live in a small town and earlier this summer, there were police all over town decked out in full bomb squad protection gear. They had a ravine barricaded off and were going down with ropes. I assumed at the time that they were doing a training exercise.
It turns out that someone was geocaching and the "prize" that was hidden in the ravine was a grenade. It was an inactive antique, but I guess enough of a concern at the time.
