Gaudreau’s had a busy summer, as he spent some time at Boston College working toward his degree (he’s currently three classes short), and he’s part of this weekend’s Checking for Charity hockey tournament at the Flyers Skate Zone in Pennsauken and Voorhees.
But he’s also focused on improving on last year’s standout rookie season.
“He’s in the gym every morning from 9 to 11:30 and he’s on the ice pretty much every day for two hours,” Johnny’s father Guy said. “… He works out pretty religiously.”
“With the season I had, there’s going to be pressure on me having a better season,” Gaudreau added. “I feel I’ve had a pretty good offseason so far and have a month left here to get even stronger and faster.”
Gaudreau also has plenty of time to savor Wednesday night’s festivities.
“I think it’s going to hit me a little bit harder as the years go on and I realize some of the players that are actually in this museum, and it’s exciting right now,” he said. “It’s a pretty special moment for me.”
