Tony Lara, a ship captain who appeared on Discovery Channel’s Deadliest Catch, died in Sturgis, South Dakota, on Saturday. He was 50.
Police told the Associated Press that Lara died at a private home in Sturgis and that they are waiting on autopsy results to determine a cause of death.
Lara appeared in six episodes of Deadliest Catch as the captain of the crab-fishing ship Cornelia Marie. The Cornelia Marie’s former captain, Phil Harris, passed away after suffering a stroke in 2010.
