I know Albertans are going to hate to hear it, but considering the way the world is going with fossil fuels and the rise of solar power and all that good stuff, shouldn't we be concerned as a country that our energy policy is outdated? Perhaps we should already be looking at being leaders in other energy fields than just oil?
Not saying the US, India or China is going to stop buying our oil anytime soon, but why can't we lead the world in other areas? Geothermal, nuclear, wind, solar, etc, etc? We have 2-3 generations of brilliant engineers that have been working on our 'how to get oil out of the oil sands' problem. Why can't those people work on something better?
Seems to me like we're sticking all our eggs into one basket.
