Last year, Giordano was the best Dman in the world, for 3/4 of the season. He seems to get injured often, and this will likely increase over time.

Lots of guys getting paid top dollar also don't get injured that often. How much do historical duty cycles play into contract negotiations?

There is less value in being the best player in the world if you're not around to help your team down the stretch and in the playoffs. There is negative value.

I think he will sign at 6x6, less than the Chara contract which was too much. When Chara signed that contract he was historically durable, but we're seeing how quickly he's declining. Giordano, being already fragile, is worth less...
