Because that 'rendering' sucks, and is cheezy as all hell.

We do not need to perpetuate a 'western' stereotype into a sporting facility. We are now a modern, world-class city and have grown bigger than that 'western' moniker we used to have.

Look at all the new, major sporting facilities around North America (hell, the world) and you'll see they are constantly setting the standard for modern design achievements and techniques. We should be setting that new bar; not giving in to overused, historical outdatedness.

Also, as far as I am aware of, the Saddledome wasn't designed to look like a saddle; but it was definitely a design acheivement in terms of the structural roofing at that time for 1983. People gave it the 'saddle' term after the fact.
