OK, seeing as I have some experts on electricity I'll get you guys to settle something for me. I had always been told to think of voltage as pressure, and the amps as the volume of electricty; to draw a bit of an analogy to water. Which to me makes sense, as you need a lot of pressure to move electricity from the generator to Calgary (like over 500 kilovolts.)

Now I have a buddy who is an electrician who says I have it backwards.

Who is right?
