And please don't misinterpret my post as a request to refrain from being optimistic. In fact, I was thinking today about the new deck I am building for my backyard and I am very optimistic how it will turn out. So optimistic in fact that I am enjoying telling my neighbors how ugly their yards look. Or maybe I don't understand what optimistic means.
Anyway I get that sports rivalries are different and sports is by nature competitive but questioning when our rivals will be able to compete with us is maybe a little premature. Two of the three finished with more points than us this year so they seem to be competing OK so far.

Calgary's neighbors' "yards" do look ugly. If by "yards" we mean "teams".
As for finishing with more points, true. But Winnipeg only did so because they dressed a real team on the last day, plus Calgary chucked about 10 points mid season. And Calgary won more games. So there's that. And Calgary won the season series (and now has the winning goal-scorer in the game they lost).
And I don't care how many points Vancouver had, Calgary smoked them in the POs. So they were better.
