Yep, having two you kids the TFSA thing was kind of a kick in the teeth. A tax credit for people with money to save, while somewhere around 15%-20% of family incomes before taxes goes towards various child care programs.

FYI for those who don't know for a kid under 5, full time child care could cost anywhere from about $800 - $1500 / month / child depending on a few factors. That's anywhere from $20,000 - $36,000 / year for a family with 2 young children.

As some have pointed out even though you decided not to have children, there are very very good reasons we have social programs for those who are not able to work (Children, Ederly, Disabled) and all have us have and will benefit from these programs at times throughout our lives.
