Byron is a great utility player who can move in and out of the line-up. And he plays like a big man so his size hasn't been a big concern. Remember he did take out Shea Weber..
I like the philosophy of not losing assets with value, even if it's not a lot of value. He can be traded at the deadline and even if it's for a 5th round pick that's still better than not re-signing. Or if having Byron on the team helps free up a package trade deal than it still works out.
Worth keeping him for this alone!
