Of the rituals that I've actually seen whether there is a true spiritual aspect I don't know but there is most definitely a utilitarian aspect to them e.g. absolving ones conscience, binding of members through esoteric oaths (that the initiates probably don't even understand)

People talk about the elite and wealthy like they are members of the general public when they most definitely are not and are motivated by these secret initiations and memberships.
