You aren't taking a subtle enough view of the problem. The screen is the great democratic portal. We all see the same things on it. Great books, great films, great porn. It is also a limitless diversion.

The Middle Ages were a time of great disorder, but to say that there was a lack of ltierature, or building activity or material cultural achievements is false. Like stupidly false.
