Contact? No. It would divide us more, into 3 factions. i)People who want to create a peaceful co-existence with the aliens and learn from them; ii)People who want to kill them because they're, you know, different and we need their oil!; iii) People who refuse to acknowledge their existence as it goes against the teachings of Jesus and the creation of the Lord. *
Then we would all fight about it and the aliens would say "f*** this" and move on to Kepler-452b to see if they're any more evolved.
