First of all

And no, that's really dumb and I'll tell you why.
If you look at WW2, The weapons weren't accurate, the platforms for transportation weren't fast, Sensor technology was primitive.
Today with really accurate high yield artillery and Bombing. With faster war capabilities, with better trained troops, this would be a blood bath of monumental proportions that would make WW2 look like a fist fight in a barn.
If it was the West versus the East, it would rapidly grind into a high tech stalemate with the only way to break that stalemate would be the usage of battle field nuclear weapons to blow holes in enemy formations.
Plus generals and strategists have been paying attention to the insurgency strategies, every battle would break down into block by block city fighting.
