Sidney Crosby, the best player in the league at the moment and in the past decade in his prime at 27, and Malkin at 28 in his prime, arguably one of the strongest first line centers in the league at #2 could not get the Penguins to the playoffs this year.
McDavid will dazzle all of us with his play, but until Edmonton fixes their Defenceman woes, lack of experience and leadership, their goaltending (I think Talbot is suspect and recipient of a strong NYR defence first team, Scrivens 2.0), Oilers will be hard pressed to make the playoffs before they start getting cap issues with all their 1st overall picks.
