Well I'm steaming about that game. Quite simply the Rebels were robbed. They scored a perfectly good goal with a little over a minute left only for the referee to mysteriously disallow it. No reason whatsoever for it. Apparently he told Sutter that he "didn't see it." Well he was standing in perfect position situated right behind the net. Everybody in the building saw it go in except the guy most perfectly placed. Unbelievable.
Dion was injured behind the play on another non call by the ref. It looked pretty bad to me.
Bowles was the only reason the Hitmen stayed in this one, making 47 saves some of them outstanding. He's more than proven himself in my mind.
Overall, besides a poor second period by the Rebels (were they still managed 18 shots) this was a good performance by Red Deer. I'm quite pleased with this "massively inferior" team. They can play quite nicely with the Hitmen.
