The thing with MacLean IIRC is that he's pretty level headed, likes the Flames more than most Canadian teams, but his thing with Edmonton is I believe he's pretty good friends with the old boys club; Lowe, McTavish etc.
And you know how those guys are, so it wouldn't surprise me if there's a little extra love for the Oilers because of those friendships and a little extra incentive to butter them up in the media to counter the constant, justified negativity towards them.
Wasn't it McLean who was very quick to start talking up the Oilers 4 or 5 years ago, too?
