With any online service, the number of accounts is always much larger than the number of active users.
According to the main page of the Calgarypuck forums, this site has 16,874 members, but only 3,542 active members. Just over 1,000 (as of 10:45am MT) logged in users have visited CP today. Most likely, a small fraction of those 1,000 have actually posted something today (many have probably never posted anything, ever).
I assume Ashley Madison is a paid service, so that's going to significantly drop the number of active users even further. On top of that, you have to wonder how many of the actual active users would provide their real contact information. You have to assume most people who don't want to get caught by their spouse will use a pre-paid Visa (or something similar) to pay for the service, and fake contact information to go along with it.
