Maybe it's because you're old, but for a lot of younger fans he literally was the Flames for the better part of the nineties. Absolutely dominate in skill and singlehandedly put fans in the seats for years. He was one of the best players in the entire league during a large era of time that you completely omitted in your dismissal of his accomplishments.
In fact you literally only gave him credit for his rookie season in the NHL AND used it against him, calling him a bit player.
Yeah there was absolutely nothing dominating about Fleury in his prime. Clueless. And it always seems to be the older posters that have it out for Fleury and hammer him every chance they get like he was a rival star player or something.

Older poster here. I was in Junior High when Nilsson, Plett, Chouinard, MacMillan, Lever and the rest came over from Atlanta. Don't count me in on your generalizations, though. I have been a fan of Theo and his feisty, gung-ho style ever since the 1st time he was called up from Salt Lake. He had that "bring you out of your seat" quality right from the beginning.
