I've noticed this for quite a while, as well.
With the growth of this city, they really do need to hire more police to try and keep up. Even 5 years ago I recall the predictions were that Calgary wouldn't hit 1 Million until 2017, yet we did it earlier this year. Services just can't keep up with the increased growth.
