Just because he has NHL caliber skating doesn't mean he's ready for the NHL. It sounds like he has a lot to learn still and can develop further in the AHL, WHL or SEL.
We have seen guys like Hanowski, Van Brabant and Agostino play NHL games in the past couple seasons. Being NHL ready and playing NHL games are not always the same thing. If he spends the year in Stockton, I could see him suiting up for a couple games late in the season as well, just to give him a taste of the level and a measuring stick to aspire to.
