IMO, Oduya is not as great, defensively as he might appear to someone that doesn't watch every Blackhawk game. He is a nice skater, sure, but, very weak on the wall, and inclined to cough it up vs. a determined forecheck...his perceived value, IMO, was more due to him being paired with a very solid SAH D-Man, Hjalmarsson. Moreover, Oduya seemed to wear down in the 2nd half of the season, passed, and was able to recover for the playoffs due to having been shelved due to a late season injury. At 35, I am not sure that I would value him at $3.75million over 2 more years.
As someone earlier posted, this works out to Sharp, Johns, and JO for Daley and Garbutt...but, this omits the biggest piece of the deal, from Chicago's standpoint...it should be Sharp, Johns, and JO for Daley, Garbutt, and $4million cap space
