As for a new arena for Calgary, we will need a big area of land to accommodate everything in a state of the art fashion. Though I like the idea of having the new arena where the greyhound station, it doesn't seem like an ideal solution to situate a new district. (hotel, entertainment, media center etc) If there isn't any other places that struck out as a perfect location besides the greyhound station, we would most definitely have to re work Bow Trail SW to work with all the traffic during peak times.

It would be great if the Flames Ownership & Stampede Co, can both work together on a project and bridge the LRT from the stampede to the new arena, vice versa. (expansion to the stampede seems like something that would create a new scenery to downtown)

As for the arena, I would love if Calgary had a layout in terms of the seating something similar to TD Garden. Lower bowl, then seperated by two tier coperate boxes, and onto the second bowl with nosebleeds on top:

Of course this arena will need to hold other events such as Concerts, Hitmen, Roughnecks.

Outside of the arena, the Calgary Flames should add a practice facility near the arena instead of having a hassle of driving to the south-west just to play at the WinSport Facility. Also having a entertainment area near the arena will also be beneficial in the rejuvenation of West Village and to like I said earlier, maybe an expansion to the stampede? This could definitely serve as a place as the new red mile for the Flames, and it would be even more appealing if they could somehow set up a huge projection somewhere to showcase the games live for those who aren't in the arena. Something similar to what LA Live is and that can accommodate the screen just like Toronto did when the Raptors played:

I've created a quick concept of what something might look like, it may be ambitious but, it could definitely be scaled down a bit. Lots of road-reroutes will need to be taken place with underground work as well..

Yellow: Stadiums
Blue: Parking
Purple: Underground Bow Trail SW
Orange: District Roads
Green: Shops, Restaurant Media, Plaza, Hotel etc (entertainment area) + Large park to occupy large events with a public screening
Blue: LRT + Bus Line
Black: Pedestrian Walk

I plan making a rendering, and designs of the area with a design software later that should have better details of road-work and what the area could look like.
