Day 1 thoughts...

Lots of skill on display today and its a good thing I have a proven track record of spotting eventual NHLers (this is a lie) so I can easily point out who will make the show...

Jankowski - Happy to see Janko for the first time. Silky smooth. Reminds me of Colborne. How does he not rack up crazy numbers?

Klimchuk - Nothing flashy. This is how you accept a pass at full speed. This is how you create a rebound.

Hickey - Stood out. Did everything really well today. Looks thin but didn't get outmuscled in any of the drills and put on a clinic in protecting the puck.

mangy-pangy - As advertised - Small, feisty and quick.

Kyllington - Skills were on display. Could tell this was day 1 for him because he needed some extra guidance on what to do in certain drills. I frequently tried to watch him and then Morrison on the same drill as a sort of comparison and I was very impressed. Best skater on the ice in my opinion (including skating backwards). Honestly, I thought he looked like a highly-skilled first round draft pick but as a forward.

Everything i've read about him tells me he should stand out in drills, but come game time his positioning and decision making is suspect. I'll be watching for that during scrimmages.

Agreed Morrison looked the best in group B.

Tyson Baille however....i'm not sure who the rest of you were watching but all I saw was a small guy who wasn't nearly fast enough and struggled in almost every drill. I honestly kept thinking "ya, you're cut. Nice try though!". No question that he worked his butt off but I can't believe he would be in the top-5 today and I have a sharp eye for NHL talent (again, a big lie).
