Giving Monahan $7.5 is not good cap management, it's overpaying in my view. The cap is not guaranteed to go up. If it wasn't for the 5% cap "enhancer" the NHLPA is allowed, the cap would have been lower than last season. There is a good chance the CDN $ will be heading down even lower this year, which could reduce the NHL revenues significantly.
