Jay walkers deserve to live too so I would slow down for them. But there are reasons that slowing down for Jay walkers as a courtersy is actually dangerous to them.
First if the right hand lane car stops, they will be blocking the the left hand lane car which may or may not know there's a jay walker crossing.
Second, jay walkers can time the flow of the car as long as they can see them, if some cars stop and some don't, it's more dangerous to them too.
I'm not saying we should run people down intentionally but many times, drive on thru without stopping could actually be the safe thing to do for jaywalkers. And I know this from my many jaywalking experiences.
