I think everyone is aware. Reddit has bad ####. Don't go there if you think it's filth. It's hardly the only area of the Internet where this stuff is so you've got a lot of work ahead of you, if you're after awareness. But it's kind of like the gay marriage thing - don't like it, don't get married to a same sex partner. Don't like ####ty parts of the Internet? Don't go there. Not all that hard to avoid.

The point I'm driving at is that other "area(s) of the internet" don't simultaneously host awful content while hosting acceptable content and explain it away with a "MUH FREEDOMS" mantra. Typically the awful stuff is it's own terrible entity. Dogboners.com doesn't exist alongside clubpenguin.com.
