The only one you really need to trade in the summer is Hudler. He'll want term on his next contract, something the Flames shouldn't even remotely entertain for a player of his age, given our forward depth, age of our core and the fact we just signed Frolik for 5 years which takes him to his early 30's.
Hudler is also at his highest value right now after last year and his recent lady Bing, so there will be value for a contender. And, he's not the type of guy you can wait to move later in the season for a couple or reasons. One, his value can only go down, best case scenario it holds if he has another year like last year. Two, get into the season with him, and we do well, might be tough to move him and not send the wrong message to a young team that might be thinking it has a shot at it. Move him now, after signing Frolik and you can play up the swapping due to contract status and long term focus for the team, do it when the team might be fighting for the division and it's a deflator for the guys.
I know we've all fallen in love with Hudler, but there is no long term fit for the two parties IMO and I just hope they don't wait to long and fail to get value.
The rest of the vets on that list won't drive value and can be exited as young players take their spots.
