I used to be in a top Horde raiding guild, but burned out from being expected to raid 6 hours a night, 5 nights a week so I quit for a few months and then transferred to Doomhammer to play casually.

There really is very little for casual gamers to do in WoW. Anything geared toward casuals is just grinding and farming for hours and hours and hours on end.

Burning Crusade, the expansion that's supposed to come out early next year, is hoping to give some more end-game content for casuals and a revamped Player vs. Player system that doesn't require you to quit your job and social life and play 'round the clock to attain a high military rank. Things like new 10- and 15-player instances will allow smaller guilds and groups of competent casual players to gear themselves up and see some better end-game rewards.

So you can either spend 30ish hours a week raiding and getting gear every few weeks, or spend a few hours a week farming as a casual player and get a new piece of gear every few months.
