It might be in Giordano's best interest to sign a lower long-term contract now instead of hoping for a big deal as a UFA. His last two seasons have been great when he was healthy, but before that he has only been ok to good depending on the season. If he has an off year or has another long-term injury I can't see anyone paying him close to $9 million long-term.
