Rumor was Hamilton was not looking for a bridge contract to get him to 27 but wanted something that would get him well into UFA status. So he's looking for 5+ years then since he is 22 right now no?

If he doesn't sign a QO, he plays as a restricted free agent until Dec 1st at his 832k contract. Teams are free to negotiate with the RFA until the Dec 1st deadline. After Dec 1st if he doesn't sign, he sits the rest of the season but more than likely it goes to arbitration before then if no team puts of an offer sheet to him in the meantime.

So I'm guessing somewhere in the neighbourhood of 5-7 million on a 6-7 year contract. Which is close to what the Bruins were trying to offer but probably not at the term length Hamilton was looking for.
