Okay McDavid is a stud, no point in arguing that. However, you stated that Hamilton was gifted to us by Boston as some sort of diabolical move by Boston to screw Edmonton, when actually it was a shrewd move by a GM to get a top young player for peanuts. You want to talk about gifting? How about the absolute dumpster fire your team is despite 3 #1 picks and then you miraculously get a 4th. Gross.
Also who is this new crew?
Talbot? The guy you has had a grand total of 57 NHL games playing behind one of the top defenses in the league. Sounds vaguely familiar. Oh right, that Scrivens guy who had nearly the same stats playing behind one of the top defenses in the league. How'd that work out?
Or are you talking about Reinhart? Slow footed Dman who couldn't crack the Islanders roster after 3 years and had a fantastically average season in the AHL last year. But yeah, he's got the same ceiling as Hamilton.
Maybe Gryba? A #6 stay at home Dman who pretty much every Ottawa fan out there said good riddance. But if there's anything Edmonton needs, it's bottom pairing Dmen.
Seriously, despite getting Gryba and Reinhart you've lost Petry and Marincin compared to last years D. That is a downgrade no matter how you look at it. You better pray Nurse or Reinhart take major developmental steps this year. You won't find anyone out there that doesn't rank Edmonton's defense as the worst in the league. By a mile.
Until the rest of the "all-star" forwards learn to give a crap about defense and back checking this team is going nowhere. But please continue telling us how next year is THE year. It's like an annual tradition now, 8 years and going strong.
