Short memories. The Libs and NDP opposed pretty much everything during the Harper minority governments. They even put on that farce that was the contempt of parliament vote.

They told every reporter they could find how the Cons were destroying Canada and our democracy, how (insert bill) was the worst legislation ever, how the majority of Canadians didn't want said bill. As long as it wasn't a confidence vote they went against the government every time with rare exception. When it came time for a confidence vote they conveniently caught the flu or had a family emergency, when pressed the leaders would say that Canadians don't want an election right now. I'm vaguely remembering when the Cons called a quick unexpected vote and there were Libs dashing out the door to avoid being caught in it.

Minority governments can put through almost anything they want, it has little to do with compromise , the opposition won't trigger an election until the polls tell them to.
