If these moves all work out they will have to win before needing to give Reinhart, McDavid, and Nurse big contracts after their ELC expire.
It's not a coincidence that the Crosby Penguins won their only cup when they had Malkin, Staal, and Letang on their ELCs.
Also with the Hawks they won their first cup with Toews, Kane, and a cast of others on their ELCs and only shrewd management to retool allowed them to remain competitive and keep winning.
