Sure it might be a good way to meet people, but I can probably think of a few better ways to meet people with more similar interests than "Hey we bought the same car".

Like I said, it's good to know some people who have experience dealing with the car so when/if I have a problem, I know who to talk to. There is an online club and I've already gotten a lot of helpful advice on the car.
The other reason I'm going is for fun. I like to have fun. I'm not trying to be a jerk, but if you don't like it, you don't have to come.
