I think your analysis is probably most likely, but I'm still not sold on Wideman logging top-4 minutes again this year, especially in the place of Russell. I trust Russell more defensively.
I'd like to see Wideman go to #5 on the depth chart, but get top PP billing (like you say here). Hamilton's acquisition allows the Flames to manage Wideman's TOI a bit more. Because Hamilton/Gio/Brodie can eat a lot of minutes, we don't need to rely on Wideman to do so anymore, and can instead use his offensive skills more strategically.
